After the mosaic benches were finished at Trinity Lutheran Church, the congregation was interested in doing another project! The Sunday School students were studying “Creation” so I worked with them to draw images of their favorite parts of God’s creation. Some of the themes of the drawings were about family and friends, some were about their lives in NYC, and some were about nature and the magnitude of the universe.
Then, the challenge was to put their pictures together into a cohesive mosaic. The students’ parents got involved as well as other adults in the congregation. We are continuing to hold workshops as the artists cut stone and tile to piece together a globe, tree, skyscrapers, and subway train. And we’re not done yet!
